Photography has always been my passion and my hobby since I was small. I used to dream about owning a camera…
Above of that, a film camera is always fascinating me. How nostalgia and delicate it is! Talking about history of camera development, I cannot help but mention about film cameras which inspire me all the time. May be many people think of Leica or Hasselblad immediately when mentioning about limited edition. But, for me, it’s Nikon because it was simply my first film camera I’ve ever owned.
My heart was jumping when I first saw the Nikon FA gold plate during my trip to Japan. It really surprised me with its graceful beauty. Nikon was justifiably very proud of their FA, the first camera to use computerized multi-segment metering. It was the first Gold Nikon offered for sale to the public, commemorating winning the European camera of the Year award for 1984, "Camera Gran Prix 84". Only 2000 pieces were produced and available worldwide. The 20 gold plated parts are 24K gold plated. The body covering is red lizard skin. The easily scratched gold finish was protected with a specially provided cleaning cloth, complete with special Nikon gold cleaners. The camera was delivered with a wooden casket complete with a matching 50mm/ f1.4 24 carat gold plated Nikkor lens.
How lucky am I when I own one of these, the 277th out of 2000, a brand new one with full box of accessories provided by producer! It’s amazing!
